The Best Drinking Game. Ever (Re-Post)

It's called Vietnam Bombs. It's America vs Vietnam in a prolonged, action-packed shit show that is very reminiscent of the actual war itself; a microcosm of sorts.

The American team's cups are arranged in a traditional, ten-cup triangle and their cups are filled with beer. Furthermore, every time an American cup is hit, the Americans must drink the beer immediately, refill the cup, and then place it back in the triangle. This is supposed to simulate troop reinforcements. The Vietnamese team's cups are filled with shots and a chaser of their choice (last night, mine was Propel). However, to stay true to the Vietnamese's guerrilla-warfare tactics, each Vietnamese cup can be positioned by itself anywhere on the Vietnamese half of the table. This significantly increases the degree of difficulty in hitting a Vietnamese cup. To make matters worse, depending on which side you're on, the game ends only when Vietnam loses. No matter how much beer America drinks.

As an added bonus, each side can further understate the seriousness of the war by alluding to each military's real-life shortcomings in their shit-talk. Not only is playing the race card allowed, it's encouraged. For example, when I'm the American team, I make a point to use every racial slur for Asians that I learned from Gran Torino. I rule! Anyway, now that you know the rules, round up some friends and play!

Private Gun Shows-- The True Gangster's Paradise

The video below, produced by the City of New York, captures the corruption in what is now being called, "the gun show loop hole."

According to the video, 63% of private sellers at gun shows tested were perfectly willing to sell to buyers who admitted up front that they probably couldn't pass a background test. The loophole exempts "private dealers" from having to conduct such background checks. But the law does prohibit private dealers who have reason to believe a buyer couldn't pass such a background check from completing those sales.

But they don't care, and most never have. Sale after takes place in which the private salesman is explicitly told that their buyer would not be able to pass a background check, and yet cash and weapons are still exchanged. Some salesmen admit to the probability of failing a background check too. Check it out:

Stepping My Game Up

Wow, this has been long overdue, but I have finally decided to utilize my, and more importantly your, computer's 800 x 600 pixel resolution by expanding the width of my blog. If you are reading this, you have probably already noticed that something has changed...

The larger width means a couple things: 1) no more tiny videos 2) no more long skinny paragraphs that strain the eyes, and 3) more posts per page! I have also decided to fill some of the black space on the right with such page elements as a blog roll, a Google newsreel, a search bar, an "about me" section, and perhaps most importantly an RSS feed.

For the 17 people that have chosen to "publicly follow" my blog, thank you. But, you've probably been wondering, "What does 'following' mean and how is it advantageous to me?" Well, it's meaningless and it doesn't help you. In other words, you don't get an update when I post something new, so the title is a bit of a misnomer. Here's where the RSS feed comes in. If you subscribe to my RSS feed, you can get post updates from a variety of mediums-- Yahoo, Google-- completely up to you.

Anyway, Fred Phelps's Pajama Party just got so much more legit and I couldn't be more excited!

The Ideal Gas Law

Matt Strafuss, a technical instructor in MIT's Physics Department, demonstrates the ideal gas law with balloon animals and a beaker of liquid nitrogen. A drop in temperature with fixed mass and external pressure will result in a smaller volume, and vice-versa.

Verizon destroys AT&T with its new "There's a Map for That" Commercial

It is long been my belief that, despite treating their customers (my family) like lepers, Verizon is the best and, by extension, has the biggest 3G penis in the business. Finally, if there's any lingering debates on that fact, well, "there's a map for that." Not only does Verizon reign supreme, but AT&T's catchy witticism, "there's an app for that" is now six feet under.

And for any AT&T customer who says, "BUT EVAN, I WOULD RATHER HAVE A SWEET iPHONE THAN GOOD SERVICE LOL," allow me to retort. Ignoring the fact that all the incredible iPhone features, like OpenSSH or DropCopy to share file between your cell and desktop, are obsolete with no 3G coverage, the most important truth is AT&T's success, essentially, has depended solely on the iPhone-- which has come at a heavy price.

You see, the first-generation iPhone was originally rejected by Verizon because Apple's term of service essentially forced them to bend over and take it like Ving Rhames in Pulp Fiction. AT&T accepted the deal, realizing the need to mitigate their inferiority to Verizon's dominance, and now has to pay money back to Apple for every new customer of the first-gen iPhone.

Ergo, Verizon is too good to sell its soul to Apple and, as a result, is the industry's best.

Movies That Definitely Don't Suck-- Shogun Assassin

Hmm how do I introduce Shogun Assassin? It was a major inspiration for Quentin Tarantino is his creation of both the Kill Bill movies. This fact alone speaks volumes, yet I digress.

Shogun Assassin is a classic tale of revenge and justice for Lone Wolf, a master samurai, and his young son whose family was murdered by the evil Shogun who Lone Wolf served loyally for many years as royal executioner. The two travel a bloody road of vengeance through feudal Japan's forests and deserts; encountering hordes of the Shogun's ninjas and mercenaries along the way. The action scenes are breathtaking and there is enough blood to make a mortician blush; blood doesn't just squirt out, it geysers out like a broken fire hydrant. Martial Arts veteran Tomisaburo Wakayama is cast as Lone Wolf and, oh man, he is a sword master.

The entire movie, which is dubbed in English, is narrated by Lone Wolf's small child. Over an eerie and ominous score, the young boy chronicles their entire journey in search of the Shogun; from his earliest memories of his father's relentless killing to their loving bond in mourning of their slain family. The father-son dynamic is strongly developed throughout the movie in addition to the stunning sword battles.

If you're still skeptical about seeing this masterpiece, here's a teaser:
